I came here with a friend for my birthday dinner earlier in September. We went on a Thursday so it wasn't too overly crowded. Usually it can get pretty busy here. The cocktails were good. The food we ordered was decent as well! My favorite dish was the octopus. The ceviche was amazing. The ribeye steak with chimichurri was great but not otherwise special. Would I come again? Sure on an occasion, but probably not on a casual basis.

Easily one of my favorite restaurants in the LIC/Hunter's Point area. Walk-ins only. Came around 5-5:30p on a Friday and was seated immediately. Decor inside looked nice and fun, but opted to sit outside since it was really nice weather. Ordered a good bit of food: - Pastel de choclo: Really cheesy! Reminded me a lot of a shepard's pie, but with Peruvian flavors. Delicious! - Nikkei Tuna Ceviche: Tasty ceviche although wasnt head and shoulders above others I've had. I did find it to be a bit more on the sour acidic side, but that's just my preference. - Grilled Corn Causa: This was really good. Mixtures of mashed purple potato and grilled corn. Who woulda that it'd make a great combo?! - Lomo Saltado: Definitely the star of the show. The sauce was amazing and nice chunks of beef. Definitely make sure to get it with rice to soak up all that sauce! - Passion Fruit Cheesecake: Passionfruit flavor was strong with this one. A nice way to end the meal. - Lucuma Ice Cream: Pretty interesting flavor. Still on the sweeter side. My wife liked it a lot! After tax/tip I believe it was about $70/person which is definitely not cheap, but I think is pretty worth for the quality of food you get. I think it makes for a great fancier date night without breaking the bank. Will definitely come back here again to try some other items.

This place is so packed on a Friday night so had to wait around 20 mins to get a table! I enjoyed the sangria - it was light and refreshing. I also loved the lomo saltado and the arroz con mariscos. The lomo had meaty chunks of beef with a nice sear and the arroz con mariscos had a wide variety of seafood (they did not skimp). I also thought the tuna ceviche was delicious. Only complaint is that we waited for a table of 2 but got seated at a table for 4 with another couple which felt a bit awkward. They also gave our order to the other couple since the server got confused who ordered what as we were seated at the same table (obviously it wasn't meant to be a table for 2 couples in separate parties).

Food here is amazing. Ceviche is perfect on a hot day so this is a perfect spot to grab a beer and ceviche in summer heat. The arroz con pollo blew my expectations out of the water. You expect a humble dish, but the chicken is juicy with crispy skin, the elements of the bowl sing in harmony together, and you're left feeling nourished and comforted by the meal. Service is friendly and helpful; servers easily jump from English and Spanish. Definitely check this spot out!

I've had friends recommend Jora before and I always wanted to go but never found myself in LIC ever. This is change moving forward because I will be going to LIC to eat at Jora! I do wish they had paper menu. There is something about because able to read the print on paper over my cell phone. I was also kind of annoyed because my phone was dying and I didn't want to use battery to make my dinner options. We ordered a sparkling rose and about 10 minutes later the waitress informed us that they don't have it in stock. If you have the QR code electronic menus... maybe at least consider updating them so that diners don't order something you don't have available. Once we found out they didnt have the bottle we wanted we decided to just start ordering the food and order wine after. We got the octopus, the limo saltado, and the arroz con pollo. These dishes were FANTASTIC. The octopus was tender but also held its shape. The flavors of the potato with the sauces were dreamy. I might get this again for myself so I don't have to share it. The lomo saltado was very deep in flavor and the meat was tender. The fries were fresh and the onions and tomato were a perfect addition for balance. Typically this dish is served with rice and they seem to charge for it here. You can add on rice for an extra few bucks. For me just add it and raise the price? idk. We opted to not get the rice because we ordered a rice dish. The arroz con pollo was so rich. The chicken had crispy skin and the meat was tender. The rice itself was so tasty and loaded with some veggies. All these dishes I would repeat.

Jora has some fantastic Peruvian food and I highly recommend it. Please note that they do not take reservations so if you're coming on Friday- Sunday, try to get there when they open especially if it's a big group. My friends and I ordered the ceviche mixto, huacatay french fries, jasmine choclo rice, lomo saltado, grilled ribeye, and picante de salmon. Everything was fantastic but the meats definitely stood out. The lomo saltado had this amazing sauce that I couldn't get enough of- make sure to order a side of the rice to soak it in since this main dish doesn't come with rice. The grilled ribeye was a perfect medium rare per request and the fingerling potatoes and chimichurri sauce complemented it very well. I wasn't a huge fan of the salmon my girlfriends had but the brussel sprouts that it came with was delicious. In addition to the A1 food, we also got the passion fruit cheesecake and tres leches for dessert. The passion fruit was definitely my favorite of the two- it was tart yet sweet without being cloying. The tres leches was not a traditional tres leches as it came with coffee and chocolate which kind of ruined it for me TBH. All in all, I would return back to Jora as there are several items on the menu I'd like to try but didn't have room for such as the Jalea!

My friends brought me here because they were insisting to have Peruvian food. This was my first time experiencing the Peruvian flavors and I can say that I was very happy with this choice. It is located in LIC and the night was beautiful so we asked to sit outdoors. We ordered the sweet plantains, the ceviche Classico and two main plates of the arroz con pollo. I always like to explore new flavors from all over the world to broaden my palate and get new taste sensations. All plates were full of flavors, not spicy at all and really enjoyable. The service was great from the time we arrived until the time we finished with our dinner. Good job guys!

Dined here on a Wednesday night with 2 friends. The restaurant is beautiful and was packed by 6:30. I was the first to arrive and the hostess had me wait until at least one more person came from my party. Note it is walk in only, no reservations except for large parties. We were lucky to get a table with little wait. We ordered the empanadas tasting to start. It consisted of one beef, one chicken, and one cheese empanada. The restaurant at first gave us two cheese so we were able to have 4 empanadas. They were pretty good. I loved the Peruvian twist. I ordered the arozz mariscos, which is a seafood paella and was so good. I loved that all dishes are made to order so I could say no octopus and squid. My friends enjoyed their meals too. Arroz con pollo and Lompoc Saltado. We ended our meal with a tres leches cake, which looked different than most tres leches cakes I have had, but was very good. I will be back

A Peruvian friend recommended this place for our girls date and boy was I glad that she did! It's a short distance walk from the train station and it's also kind of deserted. Not many restaurants or shops nearby but doesn't matter since it's close to the train. The place is spacious. We went at around 1pm and there were plenty of open seats. The service was great! Our waitress is from Peru and explained the dishes in detail. The food is where the 5 stars really is deserved. We ordered the octopus, arroz con pollo, and arroz con marisco's as well as the lucoma ice cream. All were outstanding! You can't go wrong with any dish here it seems. The arroz con pollo was probably my #1 due to the chicken being so tender and flavorful, as well as the fragrant cilantro rice. I always order octopus if it's on the menu, and they did not disappoint! It was cooked and spiced perfectly. 10/10 I do recommend
